Dent Instrumentation

Yarn sensors for textile processes

Dent is well established as the leading manufacturer of yarn sensors and is standard equipment for many textile machinery manufacturers worldwide.

Being completely independent means Dent is ideally placed to offer impartial design advice. Development is a high priority for Dent and this department has personnel who are not only highly skilled in electronics but also experienced in the textile process. Many customers consider Dent as being part of their own team in solving problems and partnership co-operation results in providing customers with complete satisfaction.

Commitment to quality is paramount and this is recognised by ISO9001 accreditation. The Company's expertise ensures a reliable product on time and at competitive prices.

Advanced production

Dent treats every element of production with care and accuracy. Production methods ensure a high degree of reliability at low cost with every aspect of production controlled to ensure stringent standards of quality are maintained.

Our modern production facility has the capacity to deal with high volume orders, built to customer specifications and rapidly despatched. During the production process, a high level of inspection takes place at every key stage. This means failure rates are kept to an extremely low level at all times.

Applications

Dent sensors cover many textile processes, in fact wherever there is moving yarn Dent can detect.

We offer the ability to detect from 5 dtex through to carpet yarns and can adapt the detection response to each unit according to individual customer requirements. Sensors are designed to 'fit and forget' with maximum durability in all operating environments. This is achieved in part by encapsulating units in epoxy resin, providing protection from spin finish, oil, wax, water and any other potential contaminant. In addition, a unique optical compensation system overcomes dirt, dust, spin finish and other hazards with very little cleaning required.

Dent sensors are highly accurate, able to detect all types of yarn, staple or spun, and all colours, at slow or high speed from 3m/min to 8000m/min.

Filament yarns: high speed winding POY and FDY at speeds of 8000m/minute from 5 dtex upwards, elastomeric yarns, etc.

DTY: Sensor capable of operating over the full range of speeds and yarn accounts. Wrap detection on take up rollers providing early warning of dangerous wraps.

Staple fibre

Spinning: sensors for ring, open end, friction spinning machines and carpet yarn, normally low cost and very reliable.
Winding: There is an increasing number of applications on winding machines, all of which improve machine efficiency. Again low cost with high reliability.
Assembly winding: a wide range of sensor applications.
Creels: Special design of multi position sensors suitable for many creel applications.
Twisting machines: particularly for glass fibre.
Cutters: capable of cutting and clamping yarn up to 3000 dtex.
