Garnett Wire

Card clothing for woollen, worsted and nonwovens industries

Garnett Wire Ltd is based in the North of England – where the textile industry first evolved in the United Kingdom and still carries on today despite many major company losses in the industry.

Garnett has always been an innovator in the recycling industry: the company gave its name to both the type of machine and the process itself. The company maintains that expertise in its activities today – and the name Garnett is recognised in any language.

Now, being part of a group of worldwide card clothing manufacturers, the company draws on an impressive wealth of expertise and knowledge, which helps Garnett Wire in the constant development of its range of card clothing to meet the high-speed production targets that are required by all textile goods manufacturers today.

As a major supplier to the carding industry in the UK, the company has built on that expertise to the extent that its card clothing is now used by some of the leading companies in the woollen, worsted and nonwoven textiles sectors throughout the world.

Comprehensive product range

Garnett has built up a strong reputation in the textile carding industry for reliability, durability, and service. The company provides a comprehensive range of products and services for all types of carding solutions, starting with the manufacturing of metallic card clothing from round rods of carbon steel, which means Garnett can produce any specification of metallic wire to suit all requirements, be it in carbon steel, stainless steel or even high-tensile steels.

All of these products can be produced, in interlocking profiles, surface-wound or in-groove types, as follows:

  • Interlocking: 4 to 28 rows to the inch, these can be produced in extra heavy, standard, and light weight profiles.
  • Surface-wound: 8 to 42 rows per inch.
  • In-groove: 2 to 13 rows per inch.

Garnett's range of precision-cut wires are in cut-to-point and cut-to-land types, and are hardened for increased wear and durability.

Support options

Customer support services from Garnett cover all options, including the following:

  • On site mounting of metallic wires in the customer's factory, or in Garnett's workshop in the UK, or via its partners' workshops in the USA, Australia, Poland or India.
  • Card conversions from flexible to metallic card clothing, using Garnett's interlocking plastic base section.
  • Fitters to strip down rebuild and reset cards and other textile machinery worldwide.
  • Moving and reinstallation of textile machinery.
  • Manufacture of textile rollers, shaft repairs and all other roller repairs.
  • Dynamic balancing - an essential element of a high-speed operation for long-term durability.
  • The tooling-out of rollers on site, which helps extends the life of the metallic card clothing, as well as maintaining the optimum web quality with maximum output.

Accessories

Garnett also provides a range of accessories, such as hand-cleaning brushes with replacement pads of different types, and setting gauges in metric and imperial versions and customers are invited to contact the company with any other requirements.
