Building on over 25 years of advanced loom technology know-how and experience, the company is now committed to the development and supply of special-purpose machines, with the emphasis on 3D structural weaving for materials such as composites and advanced technical textiles. These are designed, developed and built specifically to customer requirements.
Griffiths will continue, however, to provide after sales service and support for all of the carpet machines it has designed and supplied over the last 25 years. It will also continue to manufacture complete electronic jacquards for new Axminster carpet looms and to supply kits to convert existing machines to electronic patterning, which are available for both narrow and wide-width looms.
Another specialised area for the company is the production of pedal-operated rapier looms which have been widely adopted by the Harris Tweed industry. These are characterised by reeds of up to two metres, pattern chain shedding and a punch tape weft selector.
Customer support is a high priority for Griffiths, and its technology is backed by comprehensive operating instructions, spare parts and training manuals. The company has a dedicated service department, specialising in weaver and technician training services, and also offers full textile consultancy services.
