Griffith Textile Machines

Carpet weaving and jacquard machines

Manufacturer of specialised textile machinery mainly in the area of fabric forming. The company's product range includes:-

Gripper Axminster Carpet Loom: The second-generation FAST AX2 loom has now been launched. This builds on the success of the revolutionary first-generation machine, with features and enhancements based on five years' experience of Fast Axminster weaving. In particular, further improvements have been made in the pile yarn pick up and transfer to the carpet, the main stop cause in Axminster weaving.

The loom inserts the weft at 180 picks per minute. This gives three times the rate of production of traditional Axminster looms. Up to 16 pile colours can be woven with no loss of speed.

Loom stoppage time is kept to a minimum, so that the high weaving speed results in a high rate of production This is achieved by a variety of means:

  • The pile carriers are horizontal, so that tuft repair can be made from the front of the loom.
  • The carrier in which a tuft has failed to be picked up is automatically moved out as the loom stops, so that the repair is easy and fast.
  • The pile yarn creel is designed for low and uniform tensions.
  • The carrier springs are designed for good presentation of the yarn to the grippers.

The Loom can be supplied with a networked monitoring system.

As the pioneer of Axminster weaving, with looms producing carpet for a number of years, the company has a wealth of experience in the technology to offer its customers. Customer support is a high priority, and is backed by comprehensive operating instruction, spare parts and training manuals. The company has a dedicated service department, specialising in weaver and technician training services.

The loom design is protected by numerous patents and patent applications.

Electronic jacquards for carpet looms: Complete jacquards for new Axminster looms and kits to convert existing machines to electronic patterning are available for both narrow and wide looms.
Camera systems: Retrofittable in-process visual inspection systems for Axminster and tufting machines.
Hand weaving: A pedal-operated rapier loom, which has been adopted by the Harris Tweed industry, has a reed of up to 2m, pattern chain shedding and punch tape weft selector.
Special machines: Designed, developed, and built to customers' requirements. New projects and repeat orders for textile manufacturers are a substantial part of the company's business.
