Recent developments in the synthetic fibre industry have led to a demand for increasingly abrasion and corrosion-resistant pumps, and Slack & Parr has responded by working with new materials, including special grades of high cobalt steels and even full ceramic manufacture if required.
Building on the quality foundations of its existing ranges and following careful consultation with customers, the company's latest SPZ series are the cleanest, most compact and most user-friendly spin finish pumps on the market. With a full range of capacities and 8-32 outlet options available, SPZ range products provide the following key advantages:
While many UK engineering companies can offer design or manufacture, Slack & Parr is quite unusual for a company of approximately 200 staff, in that it can do both. With a history of quality craftsmanship dating back to 1917 at its plant near Derby in the Midlands, constant investment has been made in design staff and resources, and in manufacturing, products are crafted completely from steel sections. Continued investment in human resources and the latest CNC machinery is central to the company's strategy.
Being an independent, privately-owned company has allowed Slack & Parr to become involved with almost all known man-made fibres from a wide variety of international manufacturers. Over many years, equipment from experimental and laboratory versions right through to full-scale production models has been developed and supplied. This far-reaching know-how allows the design and manufacture of bespoke solutions to customer requirements. In addition, a more standard range of products is also offered for PET, PA6 etc.
As India and China become more and more influential Slack & Parr continues to grow as a truly international company, with around 80% of its product now being exported. In 1998 the company opened a service facility in Taiwan, and more recently, a similar service centre was
established in Shanghai to support the maturing Chinese fibre industry.
As the man made fibre industry continues to shift to Asia and with customer demands and expectations higher than ever, Slack & Parr will continue with an intensive investment strategy to allow superior commercial and technical solutions. Recently, a major investment of €1 million was made in CNC production machinery, while other smaller investment projects were also consecutively implemented.
Slack & Parr recognises that only those UK engineering companies who are always at the forefront of technology, quality and service can continue to exist.
