The Department of Materials researchers develop advanced textile materials, technologies and products for a variety of applications.

The research includes Graphene and 2D materials to form and/or functionalise fibres. Fibre to form yarns; yarns, nonwovens, knitted and woven fabrics to form composites, devices, apparel, buildings and airplanes.

Innovations in novel fibre spinning; robotics; textiles and advanced composites; colouration and finishing.

Functional property measurements; smart textiles and wearables; biobased novel textiles; body scanning and digital apparel.
