The new plant will produce PAN precursor fibres for the manufacture of carbon fibre, to be used in the India’s aerospace, defence and infrastructure sectors.
Slack & Parr engineer high-accuracy metering technologies which deliver a reliable and controlled flow of polymer into the processing line. Nineteen of pumps to be supplied are mounted onto bespoke drive units fitted with a special coupling, gear box and electric brake. The carbon fibre plant commissioned three different-sized pumps – 1,000cc/rev, 1,500cc/rev and 2,000cc/rev to be deployed in a variety of applications.

Slack & Parr gear metering pump technologies are used in many composites manufacturing processes including coating, prepreg, filament winding and spraying, as well as in extruder-based processes most commonly used in the manufacture of thermoplastic composites. The deal comes at a historic point in time when UK & India’s trade relationship for Textile Machinery business in the UK has strengthened significantly.
One of the biggest trade deals in modern times, the UK-India free trade agreement, came into effect on the 15th July 2026, giving UK textile machinery exporters a boost in confidence to trade with drastically reduced or removed Indian tariffs, streamlined customs processing, alongside stronger digital trade between the UK and India. UK businesses can access reduced tariffs by registering via HMRC’s Origin Registration Portal.
Further strengthening the relationship between the UK and India is the UK-India Textile Machinery Coalition, and industry-led initiative connecting Indian manufacturing with proven UK machinery and technology businesses. Supported by the British Textile Machinery Association, the coalition aims to support India’s development as a growing global manufacturing hub for textiles and apparel, ensuring Indian manufacturers have direct access to trusted UK technology partners.
